Estoy empezando a como el español.....Pero a menudo me dicen que mis calzoncillos están en mi cabeza! This is for Illustration Friday: Proverbs. What a great topic. Thankyou for everyone who made comments on that last work! I will be back after a surf :) Esto es para el viernes Illustration: Proverbios. ¡Qué gran tema. Gracias por todos los que hicieron comentarios sobre este último trabajo! Estaré de vuelta después de una resaca (it is supposed to say 'surf"!, not 'hangover') :)
PS more than a small homage to Breugel . :)
Well my friend, you've done it again, I am speechless...
ReplyDelete... ok, I'm back and all I can say is
the eyeballs rolling around, the naked bodies everywhere, the heads, the serpents...
Great work Andrew, always a feast for the eyes, so many details and so much to ponder.
This is awesome! There is some freaky stuff in the bible, this illustrates the passage on a whole new level. I love the eyeballs, eww! Makes me kind of squirm. Another good one: "In the kingdom of the blind the one eyed man is king."
ReplyDeletelove the movement of the bodies.
ReplyDeleteSpanish is a difficult language to learn, you are doing good :)
wow! that's really impressive - very gothic and sinister - excellent illustration
ReplyDeleteok, i have peeled my own eyes from that long enough to post....lol wow! so much going on, just kept looking to make sure i didnt miss anything! especially love the random leg coming out of the floor and the line of eyes... ^_^
ReplyDeleteKids really should stay up late to view this one for full effect. Just like Hieronymus Bosch did to me as a kid.
ReplyDeleteHello andrew, here we are again with Illustration Monday!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to see again one of your magnificent creations.
What impressed me most are those eyes around on the ground. I guess, step one, with bare feet. Mmmmmmm.
Outside of a joke (very good element to the composition)
Everything is a great composition. I love the compositions based on repetition of elements.
I think the two strong rays of light entering also do their own thing (important detail in the scene) and the dim shadows of bodies on the floor too.
Well, until next Illustration Monday the next Thursday.
Maybe I can come back tomorrow Sunday
Hugs from the pampas.
Yeeks. Isn't this every artist's nightmare?! Excellent job.
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo creepy good! You must be a riot on Halloween!
ReplyDeletegreat job..this is very cool to look at...i find something new every time i have a look.
ReplyDeleteHello my Oz dwelling friend! Hey thanks for popping over to my place. Please don't let your wife have my snail-mail address. If she asks.. I live in Peru! You really brought this proverb to a new eye-popping level! Literally ;o) That snake is fantastic! Wow so much to look at... so little time! One time I was driving in a dense fog. Couldn't see where the heck I was going so I followed the tail lights in front of my.... right into a ditch! You should have told me sooner! ;O) Another masterpiece my fine fellow!
ReplyDeleteA nun! If you are a nun, then I am the Pope! Hahahahahaha! Thank you for your visits and cheerful comments on my blog dear friend. I have been posting in self-defense from my ever assaulting work. As you can see, I have to steal time from Nox to say hello! I shall return when I am attired more properly, unlike the men in your painting up there, they don't seem to mind being immodest, ah they are blind. Thank goodness they are for they seem to be missing something very important... Ah is that what happens in hell?
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Unnecesary equipment! HAHAHAHAHHAH! I am on my way back to my cot. I see the Mother Superior. Even Popes answer to Mother Superiors! Good night dear sweet Andrew! Tsup!
ReplyDeleteCaveo diabolus cum tu clicken (beware of devils when you click) ~Amalia K~
ReplyDeleteI came for missing links and found missing parts...
ReplyDeleteGood thing it's not chilly in hell? (Not that I want to know!!!!)
ReplyDeleteI will be smart and take a nap later.
ReplyDeleteHehehe. Seriously, Breugel is dancing in joy right about now. (^____^)
I could second all of the wonderful comments you've received, Andrew... but mostly I respond to your exquisite (as always) use of movement, lighting and palette... very Renaissance! Best wishes to you, Susan
ReplyDeleteHey karen thanks! I just threw eveything in the blender. This is what came out. I haven't chceked what elses is at the bottom... :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi oh that is one that I love. The variation 'squint' was an 'eye opener,'
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex. I am borrowing on what has gone before!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle - the random legs are actually frowned on as accidents in the 3d world. But I like them, thanks for liking them as well. You have great taste!
ReplyDeleteAh Shawn, yes what was it about Bosch? I think it was how he drew you into his work and there was so much to see. You want to not look but the work is like a car accident happening - you just have to peek.
ReplyDeleteHey Roberto, oh yes in literature it is called paralellism (sorry about the spelling) the repitition of elements. Typical nfamous one is We will fight them on the beaches etc - and it ends with 'we will never surrender' to break the rhythm and to make the point.
ReplyDeleteSo I am painting this one 74 inches wide by 24 inches and will make the man in the middle the "we will never surrender' line.
I think.
Happy weekend!!
Oh Linda I hadn't thouight of this. I see blind people often, but there are variations. The most common cause of loss of sight is smoking - and you know what people go blind in one eye (macular degeneration) and still smoke because they still have one good eye ...ugh
ReplyDeleteMary Lou Oh thanks, even the kids don';t come to my door because i give them chocolate laced with vegetables ...:)
ReplyDeleteHey Ryan I visited your blog, there is some very professional stuff happening there thank you for sharing that. Great skills you have
ReplyDeleteHah Jack I found your female counterpart -- Krista! She is fun with a great sense of humour and just so colourful. Congrats on the smart car piece! I can see us all being famous soon ---- by the way my wife just left with a ticket to Peru... :)
ReplyDeleteAntonio ah My Spanish lessons are coming along. I can now say Para las ranas tenemos una piscina y su tía es tan redondo que podía pretender ser la luna. which means: "I like how the poem is going. The first stanza is my favourite."
ReplyDeleteBut seriuosly, thankyou for writing words to that piece with the crows in the sky!
Bonjour Martine, I have been epeaking with Leo while you were away. He missed you!
ReplyDeleteOh the blind leading the blind ... yes.
Oh ces, what a pleasure, I am glad you are good. Health is everything sometimes. For myself I am menapausal and get hot flushes when I am talking to the bread girl down the road... but luckily I have joined the ranks of the invisable people who cannot spell...
ReplyDeleteexcept when I turn sideways ... I still cannot spell but you can see my small tummy then... I have to be careful when standing on the footpath that a small car does not hit it if they come too close to the curb
hope you are having an acorn day
Hehe heh Amalia, you are a scream. Oh the missing parts. you and ces noticed, but I just forgot to put them in... actually I sent them off to the drycleaners and forgot to pay the bill,,, the drycleanerts want a five percent surcharge for late payment, which of course I refused to pay...
ReplyDeleteso my men are 'bitless'
It's been three weeks now. It is causing problems though I noticed a stirring amongst the ranks actually :)
Oh my cat is Lieviticus but he always spells it without the first 'i'... talking about eyes
ReplyDeleteYowza-- you think I'm fun and colorful with a sense of humor? Ask my kids-- I am really quite a grump. Mean, too. Maybe next time they misbehave I'll threaten to send them off to this place... I bet they'll straighten up!!
ReplyDeleteHa! I just read your new bio-- I suspected you were stretching the truth a bit! Or, (and I say this in love) mentally ill! ;)
Hello Andrew Finnie, it's me, the Devil. But i dont feel like talking about the devil, let's talk about your cat (and the blind) instead.
ReplyDeleteBlind Leviticus is a cat.
And blind.
(i dunno, i think... is he?)
Because he often chases mice that aren't there and waits by a door he doesn't know is a door.
When he closes his eyes, the world doesn't change.
It stays the same.
Of course.
But Leviticus purrs.
And it does matter.
i dont care about proverbs blablabla, and neither does your cat, Blind Leviticus.
