Myth

The first step in a journey is always the hardest, eh?

Ah did I mention 'eternity'?

I guess I should explain about this fellow.

As you can see, he is not exactly in Heaven.

In fact when he was on Earth he did bad things. He told lies, he didn't go to church on Sundays, and when he was a really little boy he used to pour the milk that his mum and dad thought he was drinking down the sink while they weren't watching.

But you see they "knew".

Thanks to Breughel, H. Bosch and the paintings on the back wall of  that medieval Cathedral in Toulouse - paintings designed to scare the daylights out of the peasants so they handed over their tythe.

Thanks for looking. Clicking makes everything bigger.....

see you :)

  1. I was totally thinking Bosch, especially. And this is such an epic picture, from the architecture to the much more than usual symmetry. Birds. Beasts. Anonymous hairless people (think Metropolis), and I see the beam, but don't see the interpretation. Yet people always have hope, yes?

    What a vision!

    3. :) Ah, I was in a rush the other night. I think having words scattered throughout the images makes the images look better - but I tend to blah on a bit :) If you hadn't noticed!n see you :)

  2. Whoaaaaa, that is frightening, but in a good spine-chilling, hair-raising, better-be-good-or-else kind of way. The things that go through your brain, Mr. Finnie. Honestly! Glad to see you haven't lost your wicked ways. :D

    1. Ah Bella, you know me, I am all show and no susbstance, I am a lamb in wolf's clothings, a torturer of flies who always sticks their wings back on with superglue after I have ripped them off :)

    1. Heh Janne, yes I will be shouting from the rooftops, I will be sticking leaflets in letter boxes, I will be buying myself a glass of non alcoholic aquavit :) You know, we could do with a little snow over here - it's been 43 degrees on a few days. I go and visit the art gallery when that happens, even if I have seen the show before - nothing like air con =- and I wear my best boardshorts when i do :)

      hope you are well!

There is so much to look at and it is the old you, which is nice to see from time to time. I'll have to show it to the hubby because he will really love it. Very creepy, scary, ... and you just amaze me. I could never think of the things that you come up with. I have been missing you and your work Andrew!!!

  12. The scorpion is amazing!!! You know, this reminds me so much of inner city America. This must be like what it feels in Chicago. Young people never know when they will be able to come home alive every time they step out of their homes. It's like hell on earth. Oh wait, maybe they are on earth and I am in hell?! It sure is hot here today!!! Really creepy, Andrew and that is high compliment! Tsup!
